 Principal's Ponderings....

July 20

Thank you to everyone who assisted with the fete, through donations, time, organisation, clean up and much much more.  It takes a community to have such a successful event.  Karumba State School would like to say thank you!

Well done to our Grade 3 & 5 students

As NAPLAN draws to a close for another year, students turn their focus to other things - like athletics!  It was great to see our students maintain their composure and treat NAPLAN testing like any other piece of assessment. Well done to students, families and staff for not changing  the emphasis to NAPLAN. naplan.png

This year, we have had many discussions with students around working together.  There are many mottos and catchy phrases yet what do they mean to students?  Students at Karumba State School united in sport and demonstrated their true ability at the Croydon Carnival.  Tomorrow, I am looking for a similar outlook to our Cross Country - whilst it is still an individual event, we unite as a House and cheer the runners on, we unite as a school and support everyone regardless.  I know the students are rerady for the challenge and am looking forward to hearing them unite witht one voice and cheer!

Attendance: Aim High

attendance at school.png

Term 2 is a new opportunity for us to increase our attendance.  Our school Motto is Aim High, Go Far.  Let us aim high and encourage as many students as possible to be in the running for the attendance prize draw in the last week of term.  Karumba State School is aiming for 95% attendance.  Together we can achieve great things!school matters.png

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Term 1 has flown by, I am surprised to find that we are a quarter of the way through the year already!

I wanted to let you know of a couple of the wonderful things our Student Representative Council (SRC) have achieved in such a short amount of time:

  • Easter colouring in competition
  • Easter Bonnet making and Easter Bonnet Parade
  • Easter Stall
  • Cake stall at the election
  • Free Dress Day

It is inspiring to see our motivated young leaders of 2016, I can't wait to see what they have in store for Term 2!
